Frequently Asked Questions

I have my charts ready to send and be digitized. What do I do next?

On the right side of this page is the link to our Order Form. Fill this out and print it, wrap it around your roll of charts. Next, package up your charts to be shipped. A link to helpful instructions on how to package your charts is also on the right side of this page. If you need a quote for the job or have any other questions, please email us at info@chartworks.us.

What is your standard turnaround time?

48 hours from receipt of your charts. But, if you give us a heads-up email to info@chartworks.us we can usually get you the digital files the day the charts arrive.

How do I know what size to have my scans reduced to?

Generally most graphic recorders write about the same size. A 4' x 8' chart can easily be reduced to letter size. If it is larger than 4' x  8' or your chart is packed full of words and pictures (hardly any white space at all) then ledger would be a good way to go.

What is the difference between a .jpg, .pdf, or any other file?

The .jpgs we make are for printing and the .pdfs we make are for sending via email or uploading to the web.

For most charts I recommend a letter size .jpg as the size and format of your printable digital file.

If you'd like to print out your scanned chart at full size now or in the future, we can keep it as a .tif, which preserves the most information on the file, but it is a large file size.

What is the best format and size to send you my digital photograph of my chart?

Please send the highest resolution picture you can take and send as a .tif or .psd.

Do you offer bulk pricing?

Yes, we reduce our rates on jobs with 20 or more scans.

For your printing, what choices of media do I have?

You name it, we can print on it! Vinyl, Canvas, Glossy, Matte, even a type of fabric that can be stuck on a wall and removed over and over again - without damage to the wall!

Do you offer lamination for the prints?

No, we do not and we encourage you to find a local laminator and we will ship the final prints there. We can take your charts to another vendor for a fee of $4/sq ft.

I have Post-it's and pictures taped to my chart - can they be scanned?

Yes, no problem! We will have to tape down one edge of the post-its (the side that is rolled through the scanner). There will be a charge for the time spent preparing the charts to scan. This is billed by the quarter hour.

How do I receive my digital files?

Once the charts have been scanned and sized to your specifications, we instantly send them via our file sending service, Hightail to your email(s) given to us on the order form. You just go to the link and safely download to your computer. You can also forward this link on to others who would like the files.

If you choose to password protect your files for extra security, let us know on the order form and you will be charged an additional $5 per job.

How do I ship the charts to the studio?

Please click on the 'Instructions' link on the right of this page to access a .pdf file which will give you detailed instructions on how to roll up the charts, package them, and send them to our studio.

How does your billing work?

Once the job has been scanned and sent, we will send the invoice via email to the name indicated on the Order Form.  You can pay via check, or instantly online either through your bank account number or with a Visa, MasterCard or American Express.

Do you ship Internationally?

Yes, we will ship anywhere in the world. However due to recent issues with International Shipments, we ask you provide your account number and there will be a small fee for us to handle the customs and international shipment forms.

What is a Banner print?

This is a popular size print for the longer charts (over 10 feet) that are not legible if shrunk down and printed at ledger size. It generally is about 12” tall and can be of any length.
